“The beauty found in nature often overwhelms me” says artist Takeyce Walter. She is driven by an ever-present and irresistible urge to capture that beauty and share it with others. Walter’s recent work reflects the beauty she sees in the natural landscape around her. She is most inspired by, and drawn to quiet and peaceful scenes. Walter is forever intrigued by light, and its effects on colors in the landscape. Her paintings are of places she has experienced with all of her senses, composed with intent to reconstruct the sense of connection she has felt with nature.

Walter says “my process of creating art is nourishing, energizing, and exhausting all at once. My goal when starting a painting is to capture the impression of a place or a moment has left upon me. I need not lay down every blade of grass to capture the mood and atmosphere that originally drew me to a composition.”

Takeyce Walter is an award winning contemporary American painter (born 1980, Jamaica), media producer, and accomplished art instructor who lives in upstate New York with her family. Driven to create from an early age, Walter has been producing art for as long as she can remember. Currently, her focus has been on the natural landscape of the Northeast, specifically the Adirondacks .

Walter dedicated this year’s Creative February project, in her own words, as a “daily journey through the Adirondacks by creating art in celebration of this incredible place, as well as an increase awareness about The Nature Conservancy’s mission in this region.” As a board member of the Adirondack Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, Walter felt it important to use her creative talents to highlight not only the work done by the Conservancy, but its importance to the community at large. Learn more about Walter’s Creative February project on her social media page, through the hashtag #CreativeAdirondacks or on Takeyce’s website.

The virtual exhibition, Adirondack Inspired on Artsy with Keene Arts, features Takeyce Walter and several others artist work and their unique interpretations of the Adirondacks. A portion of proceeds raised were donated to continue conservation efforts within the park. In addition to exhibiting her paintings online, she also exhibits in regional galleries in the Northeast. Her art has found homes in many private collections across the country, and internationally, as well as these notable collections: The Saratoga Hospital Foundation and the Brookside Museum.
