Registration Information and Policies

General Information

  • Pre-registration is required to attend all classes and workshops at Arlene’s. Register online at arlenesartist.com. Otherwise, please come into the store, at 57 Fuller Rd Albany NY, or call us, (518) 482-8881, to reserve your space. Registrations are accepted on a strictly first-come, first registered basis.

  • All Atelier at Arlene's offers classes and workshops both in person and online. 

    • In person: Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.

    • Online: Participants will make art at home with live guidance from our instructors.

      • What you’ll need:

        • Internet access.

        • An internet-connected device with audio and video capabilities. A computer or laptop is highly recommended, but participants can join by phone or tablet if needed.

        • Zoom, which will be our primary platform. No account is required, and secure links and passwords will be provided.

        • Adequate space for making art.

        • Art supplies, as listed on each class's supply list, provided by email. Participants are responsible for securing the supplies needed for each class (for example, if you already have scissors and glue, you don’t need to order them), and the cost of art supplies is not included in the class fee.

  • The schedule is subject to change and cancellations and/or new workshops may be programmed. Please be sure to review our website for the most up-to-date workshop schedule.

  • The Atelier at Arlene's will not prorate single or multiple sessions of a class and is not responsible for classes or workshops missed due to illness or other commitments.

  • Please read the workshop description carefully before enrolling to ensure that the workshop is appropriate for your skill level.

 

Community Policies

  • Arlene’s and the Atelier at Arlene’s is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment during its programs for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, physical appearance, body size, race, color, age, religion, national origin, economic status, or political affiliation.

  • The Atelier at Arlene’s reserves the right to refuse registrations from participants who have a history of unacceptable behavior, or to dismiss any student without refund who engages in conduct that poses a perceived or actual threat to person or property or whose conduct disrupts or interferes with the class/workshop. Furthermore, Arlene's reserves the right to make teacher changes or cancel classes when necessary.

  • We encourage everyone to report instances of harassment to the Atelier at Arlene’s leadership (Andrew Ochal, Executive Director, or Donna Garramone, President of Arlene’s).

  • While you are at the Atelier at Arlene’s, your health and safety are our top priority. We have established COVID-19 Safety Policies with added layers of precaution. Click to learn more.

 

Registering for the a class or workshop

  • Upon receipt of full payment, a confirmation email will be sent to you within two days. The confirmation notice contains important information regarding your workshop, including your supply list. Please add classes@arlenesartist.com to your safe sender list.

  • When applicable, model fees are included in workshop tuition.

 

Supplies

  • Registered students will receive a PDF list of required and/or optional supplies within 48 hours of registration along with your registration confirmation email. Instructors may request that you bring more supplies than you will actually use during the course of the workshop. The acquisition and cost of these items is your responsibility.

 

Beverages and Meals   

  • Arlene’s has coffee, tea and water available in our staff break room. Students can bring their own beverages too.

  • Students can bring a pack for lunch and keep them in the refrigerator located in Arlene’s break room and microwave will be available for faculty/students to use.

  • The Atelier at Arlene’s takes food allergies very seriously but is not equipped to handle allergic reactions. If you have specific dietary needs or allergies please take the necessary precautions.

 

Cancellation Policy

  • The Atelier at Arlene’s makes a substantial investment when planning a class or workshop, and vacancies can be hard to fill even with a waiting list. While we understand that circumstances may arise causing a change in your plans, we must adhere to a business policy. If you need to cancel your registration, the Atelier at Arlene’s must be notified by phone or email. The following policies apply:

    • 14 days or more prior to the first session of a class or workshop: A refund of tuition, less a cancellation fee of 20% the cost of the class or workshop.

    • 13 days or less the first session of a class or workshop: No refunds of any amount will be given. 

  • Cancellation fees reflect the cost of registration, staff, instructor contracts, material acquisitions, and other services. This policy applies to all registrants, regardless of reason for cancelling.

  • If you drop out of a class once it has started, there are no refunds for any amount.

 

Waiting Lists

  • When a workshop fills, we start a waiting list. There is no charge to be on a waiting list. If space becomes available, we will contact the first person on the list. That person has 24 hours to register before we move on to the next.

 

If The Atelier at Arlene’s cancels a class or workshop

  • On occasion the Atelier at Arlene’s needs to cancel a workshop due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If we do, we will notify you as soon as possible. You will receive a credit for a future class or workshop or receive a full refund of tuition paid. If you register online, via Evenbrite.com, will receive a full refund for cancellations only. Notification of cancellation will normally occur a couple days prior to the first session of a class or workshop, in rare cases however, it may be less. The Atelier at Arlene’s is not responsible for losses incurred due to housing, personal expenses, travel, or other arrangements.

 

If There is a Change in Workshop Instructor

  • On the rare occasion that a listed instructor is unable to participate because of illness, unforeseen personal matter, or change in their professional schedule. If we must replace an instructor, we will do so with someone of equal or similar credentials. When time permits, we will inform all registered students.

 

Accessibility

  • Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. Pets and Service Animals

  • Arlene’s Artist Materials, Inc is a pet friendly store and pets are allowed inside the building. Pets are allowed at classes or workshops as long as they do not detract from the educational or qualitative experience of the program. Be advised that some instructors bring their pets to their classes or workshops. Please contact Andrew Ochal at classes@arlenesartist.com or (518) 482-8881 if you have any issues or concerns regarding pets. 

  • The Atelier at Arlene’s complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Any student who plans to bring a service animal must notify the Registrar at the time of registration, at which time we may ask if the service animal is required because of a disability or what work or task the service animal has been trained to perform. A service animal must be under the handler’s control at all times, and the handler is expected to clean up after the service animal.
