Lindsey DeBerry

Lindsey DeBerry is an art teacher and visual artist based just outside of Troy, NY. She teaches the art program at a local Boys’ and Girls’ Club, where she develops lesson plans with an emphasis on art therapy and social justice. She also teaches an adult continuing education program in photography and photo editing. Additionally, Lindsey runs a freelance business specializing in graphic design and photography. She holds a Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Graphic Design and Digital Media and is currently working on her Masters's in Fine Arts in Art Education. Her focus is on educating at-risk populations on the power of art as an outlet for self-expression and a voice to communicate and helping close the wealth gap through education, making art accessible for all.

Lindsey is an exhibiting visual artist working with a focus on film photography and collage. Lindsey’s art explores the effects of capitalist society on its people, structures, and systems. It analyzes and deconstructs cultural issues surrounding the influence of media, objectification, and the disposable treatment of people and places through the lenses of social norms, mental health, and industrialization. At the same time as her work shines a spotlight on what’s forgotten about or uncomfortable to address socially, politically, or otherwise, there is an overriding element of hope and resiliency about the human spirit and nature that can’t be overlooked.
