Anne Levitt
Air and wind, water and earth, fire and light. These ever-changing elements mingle and give rise to oceans, clouds, plants, and every form of life, every nuance of color, weather, and atmosphere.
Anne Levitt’s recent paintings are motivated by the simple flash of connection that wells up when their play catches my attention. An airy blue-grey sky, a gust of wind, the dances of trees, the unstoppable growth of plants, but especially, the infinite hues of color that define our visual world. Human civilization hums along, often too busy or distracted to notice the unceasing conversations of the sun and earth that create life and the permanent display of natural forms.
As a visual artist, Levitt responds to these fleeting moments using watercolor, gouache, acrylics, pencil, and crayon. Forms may be indicated, but it is the feeling, the spirit behind the appearance that calls to me, and is expressed in my art.
