As a visual artist based in the Lake George/Adirondack region, much of Diane Swanson’s work celebrates the lakes, mountains, woods, and landscapes of the Northeast. The inherent poetry of nature and the push and pull of positive and negative space inspire her painting practice. Swanson paints representationally but approaches her work with an eye to more abstract qualities, harmonizing atmosphere and movement with form, color, and line. Swanson primarily paints in watercolor, often adding fine line pen or pen & ink line work to the composition after applying the paint, enhancing the forms and shifts in colors that my watercolor technique creates.
