If you’re like us, you’ve probably wondered what fun art supplies other people use. Not the Winsor and Newtown Series 7 brushes and Holbein Designer Gouache 12 Set of 15ml colors but the Pentel Set of Color Pencils and Oil Pastels. We asked our very own artist/illustrator Sarah Blakeman what she can not work without and this is out she came up with.

Princeton Velvetouch Angular Shader

Containing a blend of luxurious NextGen synthetic filaments, Princeton Velvetouch Brushes are the ultimate mixed media tool for watercolors, acrylics, and oil paints. The Velvetouch line includes a full range of traditional shapes, plus specialty brushes such as long rounds with exceptionally sharp points, oval mops, script liners, and spotters for precise painting and maximum color control. Sarah uses a small Angular Shader as her go-to brush.

General’s Masters Brush Cleaner

General’s Masters Brush Cleaner removes oils, acrylics, watercolors, stains, and varnishes. It was formulated to help condition and preserve your brushes with the same care and thought as products that you use on your hair. Masters Brush Cleaner also restores old, stiff brushes to like new condition. Simply wet with water, swirl, lather, and let brush sit a while before rinsing. Repeat the process until all the paint is removed. Your brushes will be reconditioned and you will have a new old brush.

KUM 410 Two Hole Pencil Sharpener

This high-quality pencil sharpener has two sharpening holes: one for regular-size wooden pencils and one for larger pencils up to 10.2 mm in maximum diameter. Sharpening holes for regular and oversize pencils. Durable high-carbon steel blades are designed for a smooth, clean cut. Strong and lightweight magnesium alloy body. Compact wedge shape.

Sakura SumoGrip Eraser

Sakura’s SumoGrip® Eraser series features microporous foam technology to remove graphite marks from paper surfaces. It requires minimal pressure to remove graphite lead from B to 2H degrees. The new foam technology of SumoGrip erasers vastly improves the pick-up of micro-graphite particles from paper substrates that white PVC erasers leave behind.

Pentel E-Sharp Mechanical Pencil

E-Sharp automatic pencils feature the Pentel Lead Maximizer mechanism that automatically forwards reserve lead for maximum usage of existing lead. The design includes a large ergonomic barrel and rubber grip for added comfort and control as well as a top click, stationary tip and eraser, and fixed sleeve. Refillable with Pentel's Super Hi-Polymer Lead and PDE-1 large refill eraser.

Winsor & Newton Colorless Art Masking Fluid

Winsor & Newton Colorless Art Masking Fluid is a removable, non-staining, colorless liquid made of rubber latex. Use it to mask areas of work that need protection when color is applied in broad washes. Remove Colorless Art Masking Fluid as soon as possible after applying. Wash brushes with water immediately after use. Do not apply on damp or soft-sized paper.

Copic Multiliner Set A of 4 Pens

Copic Multiliner Pens feature pigment-based ink that is waterproof and won't bleed or smear when used with Copic Markers or other wet media. These quick-drying pens are ideal for anime, illustration, cartooning, pen-and-ink drawing, watercolor, and so much more. Copic's polyester nibs won't roll or bend, and they're housed in a durable plastic case with "click fit" caps that prevent dry out. Copic Multiliner Set A of 4 Pens includes four Black Fine Nib Multiliner pens, one each of 0.03, mm 0.05 mm, 0.1 mm, and 0.3 mm.

POSCA Set of 16 Fine (PC-3M) Paint Markers

Non-toxic, water-based POSCA paint markers can be used on almost any surface, and are loved by professionals, creative hobbyists, and amateurs alike. The alcohol and solvent-free opaque paint covers well, is blendable, dries quickly, and can be overlaid when dry. This set includes black, white, red, yellow, blue, light blue, green, light green, pink, light orange, orange, violet, gray, brown, gold, and silver.

Yellow Frog Tape (Delicate Surfaces)

Get crisp, clean lines on your next painting project with Frog Tape® Delicate Surface Painter’s Tape. How does it work? It’s made with PaintBlock® Technology, a super-absorbent polymer that reacts with the water in latex paint and instantly gels to form a micro-barrier that seals the edges of the tape to prevent paint bleed. The result is a crisp, professional paint line. Specifically designed to work on delicate surfaces such as fresh paint, fine art, and decorative projects, this premium-grade masking tape is perfect for when you need a lower adhesion level to help prevent surface damage.

Strathmore Toned Tan Mixed Media Pad- 6”x8"

This heavyweight mixed media paper is toned specifically for use with light and dark media. It also combines the characteristics of watercolor paper and the finish of a drawing sheet, creating a paper that performs for all wet and dry media. It's the perfect hybrid of two of our most loved papers: These papers are 100% recycled with 30% PCW, acid-free, and proudly made in the USA. Sarah uses primarily Strathmore Toned Tan Mixed Media Pad- 6”x8" because she likes the warmth of the paper to show through watercolor washes of color.

Art Alternatives 16 Well Artist's Palette

This 16 Well Artist's Palette is made of molded white plastic that is highly durable, and the smooth surface is easy to clean. “I love it because it is a perfect size and doesn’t take up so much room,” says Sarah Blakeman. It features eight rectangular slant wells and eight round wells. Ideal for all wet media.

Ken Oliver Liquid Metal Trios- Precious Alloys

These translucent, water-based Ken Oliver Liquid Metals will add a shimmering metallic luster to paintings, mixed media pieces, or card-making projects. They can be applied directly from the bottle, mixed with a medium, or blended with inks, watercolors, and acrylics. This set includes metallic saffron, metallic rose, and metallic sky.
