Arlene's launches a new Artist In Residence (AIR) Program and and is looking for applicants.

Arlene's Artist Materials announces the launch of our Artist In Residence (AIR) Program and is now accepting applications. We will invite one to two artists to participate in a year-long residency period that starts at the beginning of October 2020 and ends at the end of August 2021. We are seeking committed, community-minded artists working in either Book Arts, Painting, Printmaking, or Sculpture to be part of our AIR program. Applicants are juried by an advisory committee and emphasis is put on the quality of work and the candidates’ expressed desire to be part of our community.

As a part of the AIR Program, the artist will create a cohesive body of work to be exhibited at R Gallery at Arlene’s after their residency period is completed. To help with that task a basic studio space area will be provided to the artist. They will also teach in our Atelier at Arlene’s program and be able to participate in any classes or workshops at Arlene’s. The AIR will automatically be accepted to this year's Arlene’s Art Fair. Also, they will give an Artist Talk at Arlene’s regarding the body of work they are working on during their time as the AIR.

“The AIR Program is another great example of all the things Arlene’s is doing to support our local art community,” says Andrew Ochal, the Director of the R Gallery and Atelier at Arlene’s program. “Ideal applicants will have a strong body of work with a clear voice that reflects their artistic vision, a willingness to share that vision with our local community, and help Arlene’s commitment to fostering creativity.” The Application Deadline for the AIR program is Saturday, April 25, 2020. The accepted AIR will be announced by Saturday, June 4, 2020. Please go to rgalleryarlenes.com to learn more about the Air Program and to apply.
