Dear Friends,

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

The safety of our employees and customers remains our number one priority. Please review the following safety precautions we are taking and what we ask in return.

Our in-store safety precautions:

  • Adhering to hygiene and sanitation requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH)

  • Following all mandatory guidelines from the Governor’s Office and applicable Best Practices

  • Optimized our store layout to allow for social distancing

  • All employees are wearing face coverings

  • If we experience any overcrowding during peak times we will ask customers to wait in a short line outside our store to ensure everyone has a safe shopping experience.

In order to keep you and our employees safe we ask the following of you:

  • ALL CUSTOMERS MUST HAVE A FACEMASK on at all times for the protection of our staff, other customers and you. Customers without masks can purchase a handmade mask from Arlene’s or be given a disposable mask (while supplies last). Otherwise, customers can participate in Contactless Curbside Pickup.

  • If you are not feeling well please do not come in and store. Our priority is the health and safety of our employees and customers.

  • Please practice social distancing and maintain six feet of distance between you and other customers and employees as much as possible.

  • Limit of ten customers in the store at one time.

  • Our frame shop is by appointment only. Please call the store, at (518) 482-8881, to check availability and schedule your appointment. We are not taking walk-in framing customers at this time.

  • We will take Cash but Debit or Credit Card transactions are highly encouraged.

  • Hand sanitizer will be available at the front counter for your use.

  • If you don’t feel comfortable shopping in our store just yet we will continue doing curbside and we will also have in-store pick up. Click HERE to learn how Contactless Curbside Pickup works.

We are also offering online ordering on Arlene’s Etsy Store , Contactless Curbside Pickup, and in-store pick up. We currently have a limited inventory available These policies may change at any time. Please call the store, at (518) 482-8882, with any questions and updates.

ABOUT ARLENE'S ARTIST MATERIALS

Arlene’s Artist Materials started out as a ceramic studio in 1960, originally located in a small 500 sq ft storefront on Madison Ave. Outgrowing that location, Arlene’s moved to its current location, at 57 Fuller Road, Albany, NY (with over 10,000 sq ft), in 1974 to create the art supply store you know and love.

Teachers, students, parents and hobbyists can always find what they need at Arlene’s. Come and browse the handmade art papers, unique journals and artsy novelties in the gift section of our store. Everyone can find something at Arlene’s. Arlene’s has items found nowhere else in the area. We have over 40,000 different products and will be happy to special order anything we don’t have in stock.

Whether you paint, draw, sculpt; are a professional, student or a beginner artist, you will find what you want at Arlene’s. We deeply discount all our paints, brushes, canvases, and easels every day. Many more in-store specials are going on constantly. Come in and check them out!. You’ll find unexpected treats you can transform into treasures. Everyone on staff at Arlene’s is also an artist, so we are able to answer any of your questions. If we don’t know we will try as hard as we can to get you the answer.

Arlene’s is great for framing. Our framing department has highly skilled framers that can help you frame the piece you love. Arlene’s can handle small projects, big projects and everything in between. There are over 1000 custom frame options to choose from with tons of ready-made frames and frame kits too. Just need glass or a mat cut? Arlene’s has you covered there too. Why go anywhere else?

As an independent art supply store, we feel a special connection to the arts community in the Capital Region. In 2015  Arlene’s started our educational program, the Atelier at Arlene's, to foster the creativity of our customers. To further that connection, the R Gallery at Arlene’s and Makers Markets at Arlene’s came about to showcase local talent and develop a thriving creative community.
